Questions To Ask About Your Vehicle Repair Guarantee
Different vehicle repair centres offer different levels of guarantee and protection. For example, vehicle repair guarantees in dealerships and independent repair centres can vary in terms of coverage, duration and overall customer experience. It’s crucial to review the guarantee terms before authorising repairs from either medium. You should consider the following:
- Guarantee Duration – How long does the guarantee cover the work for and are there any requirements for the guarantee to remain in place? For example, some repair centres require you to take your vehicle in for an annual inspection for your guarantee to remain in place.
- Parts – Does the guarantee differ based on whether new or used parts are fitted? Does the guarantee differ based on whether parts are genuine or non-genuine? Fitting new and genuine parts is likely to be the most ethical repair method. However, in the event that non-genuine or used parts are fitted, it would be worth checking how this might affect your guarantee.
- Coverage – Which specific repairs or services are covered by the guarantee? There may be some repair elements which are excluded from guaranteed coverage.
- Transferability – This may be of high importance if you’re considering selling the vehicle. In the case of selling the vehicle, is the guarantee transferable to the new owner?
- Other Exceptions – You may find that each repair centre applies different exceptions to their guarantees.
